Dear friends and clients Doesn't time fly; it's been 6 months since our last news letter. Hotel Gabon - In January 2011 AAA was appointed to design a 100 room hotel in Gabon, West Africa. Our biggest challenge was what ever we designed had to be packaged in South Africa and shipped to the site in Gabon as there are no building materials available. The design, technical documentation and the costing will be finalized by the end of October 2011. Hoping to start construction January 2012. We designed light weight and modular structures for easy packaging of materials. Due to design and time constraints AAA designed the entire hotel from composite panels with carbon fibre supports; the light weight structure has reduced the cost of the foundations by 50% and the time of erection by 60%.
House Southdowns, Irene, Pretoria - client Vaughn and Nadia Naidoo. AAA have designed them a lavish contemporary farm styled home. You enter the house under a 25m/2 timber, steel and glass canopy, while walking on a timber bridge over a lovely cooling water feature. You enter the residence into a glass double volume entrance hall which leads you into the entertaining area. The house has been designed into four sections, work, entertainment area, family living area and sleeping, each space is functional and flows well into each other. House Morningside - This is a 4.5 million rand house. The design challenge was originally the client was set on a Spanish Style Home. Both the husband and wife are both attorneys and are directors in top blue chip firms. They are trendy modern thinkers, so we suggested a more contemporary approach. We went to work and have designed our best work ever, large open spaces using glass curtain walling and large concrete over hangs. Watch this space for progress photos. We will be updating our web site over the next month; we will send you a link to have a look once we are finished. |
